Three thousand people - members of 738 families - have received food vouchers in nine municipalities of Caquetá, through an agreement between the Victims Unit and the World Food Program (WFP) of United Nations Organization.

The bonus consists of five markets, which are delivered one per month, with which the Unit and the cooperating organization contribute to guarantee the right to subsistence food of the most vulnerable population of the department, which are mostly survivors of  armed conflict.

The aid began to be delivered four months ago in Florence, Doncello, Cartagena del Chaira, Milan, La Montañita, Paujil, Puerto Rico, San Vicente del Caguán and Solano. The goal for 2019 is to reach the 16 municipalities that make up the department.

"Thanks to these aids we have improved the quality of life of my whole family. There are many families that truly need it. That is a way in which the Colombian state helps us to mitigate the pain that the war has caused us, "says Pedro Angulo, one of the beneficiaries.

The WFP and the Victims Unit, in coordination with the National Apprenticeship Service (SENA), strengthen with training the beneficiary families of food vouchers, productive projects in urban agriculture so that they can grow their vegetables and medicinal plants in their homes. In addition, it takes other steps to help improve the living conditions of these families and ensure their survival in the medium and long term.

The Victims Unit and the World Food Program continue to work jointly for the good of the victims of armed conflict and the population with limited economic resources.
