About 1,500 food kits are delivered in Norte de Santander

Five municipalities in this northeastern department of the country began to receive aid in kind that will benefit the population victim of the armed conflict in a condition of extreme vulnerability.

In Cúcuta, Los Patios, Villa del Rosario and Ocaña, the Victims Unit began delivering food kits as humanitarian care in these times of pandemic, to families surviving the armed conflict who are facing difficult living conditions.

“We have coordinated with the mayors a list of victims of armed conflict who are in extreme conditions of vulnerability in their municipalities, so that they can become beneficiaries of these nearly 1.500 food aids that will somewhat mitigate the crisis that the pandemic has unleashed. The territorial entities, through the victims' links, are in charge of making effective the delivery of aid in kind donated by the Victims Unit", said the territorial director of the entity in Norte de Santander and Arauca, Alicia María Rojas Pérez.

The official pointed out that the deliveries were made in compliance with the security protocols in the collection centers set up by the municipal administrations. "This week we will arrive in the Catatumbo area to continue delivering these food aid in the municipality of Tibú", she added.

The representatives of the mayors recognized the process and this week, in accordance with the established sanitary protocols, they will begin deliveries to the beneficiaries. "We are receiving some food kits more or less than 20 kilos approximately, we are receiving them in excellent condition packed in a box", said Jesús Peña, government secretary of the municipality of Los Patios.

For his part, Juan Gabriel Gómez, victim liaison for the city of Cúcuta, indicated that "we want to thank the Victims Unit for delivering these food solutions to victims who were registered in our databases."

The kits contain more than 30 food units made up of cereals, grains, spaghetti, chocolate, coffee, panela and wheat flour, among other items, packed according to regulations and in optimal sanitary conditions.
