Paula Gaviria Betancur, head director of the Unit for Attention and Reparation of Victims, opened the new regional center for the attention of victims in the municipality of Arauca (Arauca department). This center will serve to attend victims both in the capital city and the municipalities of Puerto Rondón and Cravo Norte.

‘In this attention center, victims will be treated with dignity and it will be a meeting point,’ said Gaviria. ‘Beyond the building and the comfort of this regional center, we seek that entities provide an effective response to victims. Therefore, we are working for an even better coordination between the national, departmental, and local levels,’ she added.

The Victims Unit invested around 1,133 million Colombian pesos, while the mayor’s office of Arauca provided an amount close to 1,669 million. Ricardo Sanabria, coordinator of the departmental roundtable of participation of victims in Arauca, said that ‘victims kindly receive this regional center, because here they will attended with dignity, and their rights will be exercised. We hope all the entities work in an effective way.’
