Four ethnic communities on San Juan River agree to adjustments to return plans

Through community agreements, the Victims Unit seeks to adjust return plans according to the new ethnic guidelines.

The Victims Unit recently held meetings with the Cabeceras communities and the Wounaan indigenous communities of Agua Clara, Chachajo and Chamapuro, all located in San Juan River area, in the rural area of ​​Buenaventura, with a view to determining actions in their plans for return.

In these meetings, called “community agreements”, it was sought to make agreements on the return plans of each community, which have already been approved since 2015, but to which adjustments are made in accordance with the new ethnic guidelines and Decree 4633 of 2011.

These agreements have the support of the Buenaventura District Mayor's Office and then they will move to an institutional space, to agree on those adjustments and put them for consideration by a District Committee for Transitional Justice.
