Municipal officials from Norte de Santander strengthen knowledge on Public Policy for Victims
With assistance and technical guidance, the Victims Unit will provide virtual training to legal entities.
In order to follow up on the proposals presented by the participation tables in the construction of territorial development plans, the Victims Unit initiated an articulation with 39 legal entities from Norte de Santander to verify the inclusion of public policy on victims in new government programs.
Alicia María Rojas Pérez, director of the Unit in Norte de Santander and Arauca, highlighted the work as technical secretariats carried out by the Ombudsmen with the victim participation tables: “Since the beginning of the year we have been working with the new administrations and with the Participation Subdirectorate, we are coordinating actions with the legal entities to guarantee the strengthening of the tables and their impact on territorial development plans”.
In the same way, the official recalled the importance of care and assistance to victims in the government programs of the new administrations: “Will and commitment are required so that we inter-institutionally strengthen programs and development plans that improve living conditions of our victims with truth, justice, reparation and guarantees of non-repetition, as established by Law 1448 of 2011”.
Likewise, the territorial director highlighted the role of guarantors and watchdogs that must be carried out by the municipal representatives: “We have designed a training strategy, in order to offer them the basic concepts and tools for the registration of organizations of victims and organizations defending the victims' rights for the process of choosing the Victim Participation tables, the installation and formation of the respective table, as well as its strengthening and technical support, so that they carry out a true work of incidence in public policy within the framework of the Law".
This training exercise to be held on July 1, will be accompanied by the National Federation of Representatives (FENALPER), the Ombudsman and the Office of the Attorney General of the Nation.
