"Today we are going to release these butterflies, which are cultivated in Arenillo, Palmira, where most of the women are victims of armed conflict. I give you symbolically these wings, which are life, the life that you transmit to us after all that struggle and resilience that you have had in the face of conflict ".

With these words, Luz Adriana Toro Vélez, territorial director of Unit in Valle del Cauca, gave way to a symbolic act in honor of the survivors of  conflict, as part of a rally that took place on the Boulevard of Cali River to commemorate the Day of Memory and Solidarity with the Victims of Conflict.

Rodrigo Caicedo, member of the Table of Effective Participation of Victims of Cali, said that "with this act a sense of brotherhood was transmitted. The message is that everything in life changes, is transformed, like the butterflies. Each person must take care and give integrity ".

In turn, Martha Cecilia Jordán Arroyo, also of the Bureau, indicated that on this date the pains of conflict are revived, but also the hope is reborn "that this memory has not been lost, we can remember who we are, where we have come from and what this road means for the country".

In this massive act of commemoration, in which the Unit joined forces with the Mayor's Office of Cali, entrepreneurial victims shared their productive projects with passers-by, while different entities of the System of Attention and Integral Reparation for Victims (Snariv) had booths to share his offer with the interested population.

Early in the morning, an extraordinary Transitional Justice Committee was held in this city, held in honor of those who suffered from the armed conflict.

This space was presided over by the mayor of Cali, Maurice Armitage, who called for forgiveness and union as a society. "The forgiveness we are talking about is two-way. It is not about saying who the good guys are and who the bad guys are. This peace cannot be seen as an act in one direction, but, we will not succeed.

In Cali, according to the Unit for Victims, there are 209,853 victims per statement.
